Munich Dunkel joins the Seasonal Reserve range as the Spring release

First brewed in 2024 as a Limited Release, our Munich Dunkel quickly earned its place as a beer worth bringing back. Now, it returns each Spring as part of the Seasonal Reserve range — our dedicated collection of beers crafted for a particular time of year.

A Bavarian classic, brewed the Heads way

Munich Dunkel is one of Bavaria’s great traditional lager styles. Dark in appearance but remarkably clean and drinkable, it’s a beer built around malt character rather than heavy roast or bitterness.

At the heart of ours is Munich malt, bringing complex layers of toasted bread, hints of chocolate and delicate notes of stewed fruits.

Noble hops provide a subtle counterpoint, adding gentle fruity and spicy notes while keeping bitterness deliberately low. The result is a beautifully balanced dark lager — clean and crisp, rounded in flavour and deceptively easy to enjoy.

Our Seasonal Reserve range is about beers worth anticipating. Each release has its moment — returning at the same time each year and giving us the opportunity to revisit styles we love while continuing to refine the details that make them exceptional.

For Munich Dunkel, that moment is Spring.

While a dark lager might not be the first beer that comes to mind as the weather begins to warm, that’s precisely what makes Dunkel so good at this time of year. It delivers the depth and malt complexity of a darker beer with the crisp finish and drinkability of a lager.

There’s something we’ve always admired about Bavarian brewing: respect for tradition, patience in the process and an understanding that great beer doesn’t need to be complicated. Our good friend Eberhard, a German Brew Master instilled these beliefs in us and we honour that today.

Munich Dunkel captures that philosophy.
